there was a film crew and that cute guy in the #7 t-shirt so i figured he must be some kinda thai celeb and did my US weekly paparazzi takes from thailand. Posted by Picasa

so i went to haagen dazs to get a cake for junie's birthday (the poor thing's birthday is on the second day of chinese new year so no partay for her this year) and their latest tagline or whatchamacallit is "let your tongue travel". i mean- what kind of STUPID tagline is that. i can imagine a tongue wandering around looking pretty damn disgusting and not at all tantalizing. plus it seems more befitting of a slogan for flavoured condoms than premium ice cream.

the ride to krabi town in "locayl bas" cost us 30 baht but coming back they said 50 baht. the bus driver proceeded to explain why and later came up the bus to have his picture taken with us too. Posted by Picasa

krabi was amazing. pictures to come very soon but not that they do any justice to the place because as someone told me before "i'm sure you have many other talents- just photography isn't one of them." :(

met other travellers one of whom is a lawyer cum documentarist from amsterdam who made a documentary about ugandan child soldiers and her next project involves trying to dollarize the value of a human life. met a girl who is moving back to ny and so it will be fun to have more friends when i get back. talked to some others and all of them just taking months off to travel. awesome. life should be like that everyday.

this year i will also make an effort to meet and speak to new people because i stopped doing that a while ago i almost forgot how fun and eye-opening it actually can be. plus now i am even more determined to do my documentary about immigrants in new york. i just need to get a working videocam.

paradise here i come

i am off to krabi for two nights because i am getting restless here already. the trip has not been a fantastic one this far and i don't think it will be getting any better before i leave. maybe staying in ny is like how jeremy aptly put it- an escape from it all. there i have my own life my own space and do whatever the hell i want to and never have to answer to a soul. i fight only with myself and maybe get pissed off occasionally at the slow walker but life is pretty blissful most of the time. back home there are issues i just don't want to face because i cannot help them.

anyway, on a lighter note i'll be tanning on the white sand beaches in krabi in a few hours, maybe go canoeing and explore the caves. will take lots of pictures. i was planning to document my trip back but the videocam died on me the second day (as with all gadgets here- i spend most of my time here sending stuff for repair than actually using it!) so i have footage of the new koi and that's about it.

and yes peiru, i have finished season 4 of 24. i am waiting for another full year before the dvd for season 5 comes out. i cannot wait!!!

did i forget to mention

that keifer sutherland was walking around my office last week and my heart nearly stopped. this was about as close to a dream coming true for me. not sure if he heard me call out his name in my head but he seemed to have and gave me a smile as he walked past with a lady on his arm. oh my hero!

and i think it's about time i get rid of the mini x'mas tree we have. time for the finger puppets to come off (we couldn't think of other cool ornaments so we adorned the tree with the finger puppets that were supposed to be sewn onto those t-shirts we were supposed to sell).
yes i am a sexy fox as peiru reminded me ;) so today i came back after work and put on my modjo cd and danced away to lady. then i put on cream anthems 2001 and grooved to groovejet. wonderful monday night activity in an empty apt.

in between songs i'd clean the kitchen as i recently found out the power of bleach-based cleaners and am going crazy with it. it smells like public toilet but it really cuts at the grime. hah i am domestic goddess!

this year i will travel. to where yet i don't know but i intend to make at least three trips outside of the US, not including singapore. now i just need to find the money.

about three more people i know are getting married soon and that makes way too many people for me to feel young. to think my resolution this year (other than to lose weight) is to live life and embrace my youth.

my slogan this week is SHED THE SHAWL BABY! yes-i have shed the shawl and am returning to the world outside of dvds and group therapy for the broken hearted. to mark my step out into hipness, i went to le souk on thursday night for shisha, partied it up at marquee with good music but lots of eurotrash, and tonight we are headed to pacha for another workout.

i think the closer i get to the reality of my age, the less willing i am to face up to what it means for me. i used to think i wanted to be married by 24 and have kids by 27. that leaves me about 5 mths if i want to stick to that plan.

last night i was walking home along 14th st with jeremy and we walked by Knit NY (remember that knitting shop i wrote about months ago). i have always suspected that friday night is gay night there but last night truly confirmed it because there was no mistaking a sign that said "ONLY BOYS ALLOWED".

family is all gone and so is my roommate so the house is unusually silent i have to have the tv on just so there is some semblance of life here.

tried snow boarding for the first time in something like 6 years and it was not fun or cool. i fell too many times for it to be good for my ego- got a huge butt bruise, knees are black and blue, slammed into the ground with a straight arm so i think the juices between my elbow joints have been squished out and i am going to pay for all of this with rheumatism when i am older. i think i am going to buy myself a pair of snow blades because then i can go down the black slopes without having to worry about falling flat on my face every 30 seconds (maybe it will be more like 1 min upright time on snow blades).

brand new year. and who's resolution is not to get trim and fit?
